Tinian announces tryouts for baseball team
The island of Tinian is announcing open tryouts for their Tinian all-star baseball team, the Tinian Monarchs . The team will be sponsored by the Tinian Mayor’s Office in an effort to encourage CNMI-wide competition between islands in all sporting events.
“I wanted to encourage CNMI wide competition between islands in sports by sponsoring Tinian’s first men’s All-Star baseball team. This team will be responsible for representing Tinian in future goodwill baseball events with Saipan, Guam and Japan. The sponsoring of this team will encourage inter-island commerce and establish goodwill with other islands and other countries such as Japan. I look forward to our Tinian Monarchs representing Tinian proudly. I know this team will bring our entire island great publicity of our culture and our friendliness,” said Mayor Francisco Borja said.
All interested and experienced baseball players are asked to show up to practice at the Tinian Baseball Field Complex Monday through Friday 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Players will be judged on skill, experience and attitude. The Tinian Monarchs roster will be limited to only 20 players.
