Swimmers compete in Guam pentathlon

Twenty-one swimmers returned from Guam last Saturday winning 12 of the Hi Point Trophies in the Guam Pentathlon Swim Meet. Each swimmer had to swim five individual events, receiving points for their times, and the swimmer with the lowest amount of points was declared the winner.

Leading the surge were eight years old Amanda Johnson and Rezne Wong. Amanda took the third place trophy and one age group record in the 50m Butterfly, while Rezne Wong won the second place trophy in the boy’s division.

In the 10-year-old division, Myana Welch continued her winning streak with three new age group records, lowering her own marks in the 50 Backstroke, 50 Butterfly and the 200 Individual Medley.

A happy surprise came in the boy’s l0 years and under division with Saipan’s Juan Camacbo and Andrew Perry winning first and second respectively, their first swimming trophies.

For the 11-12 years old category, only the boys won, with Jeremy Winkfield taking the first and Quincy Johnson the third place trophy.

Dean Palacios and Tamiko Winkfield battled it out in the 13-14 years old division with both settling for 2nd places in their respective divisions.

Seung Gin Lee moved up to the senior division, picked up the third place trophy and again broke his 100m Backstroke record, while Xenavee Pangelinan and Tracy Feger went 1-2 in the women’s senior division. Xen set records in all five events swim, breaking records set by Jessica Jordan, by two to three seconds.
