Employers of illegal aliens appeal to court

Two employers who were convicted of hiring illegal aliens yesterday filed an appeal before the Supreme Court.

Superior Court Associate Judge Timothy Bellas sentenced Jong Choun Song to three years imprisonment, all suspended except for 60 days. He will also perform 100 hours of community service.

On the charge of failure to pay wages, Mr. Song was also ordered to serve a one year sentence. These two sentences will run concurrently.

At the same time, the court directed Sang Hee Kim to serve a two-year sentence, all suspended except for 15 days, for employing nonresident workers without proper work permits. On the charge of nonpayment of wages, Mr. Kim was sentenced to one year imprisonment, all suspended.

Chang Hyun Corp. was ordered to pay $2,500 in fines on the charge of employing illegal alien.
