Police authorities yesterday arrested Pedro Tudela Borja for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a Bangladeshi national last Dec. 18 in Chalan Kanoa.

The Department of Public Safety is also conducting a manhunt for Miah Jahangir, another Bangladeshi, and three more unidentified male suspects who were with Mr. Borja when they forcibly took victim Motahar Hussain across the post office in Chalan Kanoa.

According to police reports, Mr. Motahar, an employee of Michigan Garment, was watching TV at a friend’s room when the suspects arrived.

Witnesses told the police that two men talked to the victim and forced him into the vehicle with plate number ABN 281 and fled to an undisclosed place. A witness positively identified Mr. Jahangir.

The victim was later released and told investigators that the suspects took him at gun point, beat him up and stole his money and wrist watch.

Mr. Hossain said he was taken to a staff house just south of his residence and met a Chinese national whom he identified as the girlfriend of one of the suspects.
