Sports medicine clinic
The Oceania National Olympic Committee and Dr. Patrick Sagisi of Guam have allotted funding from ONOC to the Northern Marianas to conduct a sports medicine clinic on Saipan on March 24-26, 2000.
Dr. Matt Marshal from New Zealand will conduct a Basic Level Sports Medicine course for coaches and sports administrators.
Other topics include head, heat and knee injuries, drugs and prevention rehabilitation of injured athlete. A sports physiotherapist from Fiji will accompany Dr. Marshall for the clinic.
Each sports association is requested to have one nominee to attend the course beginning the evening of March 24th. Participation will be limited and sports a requested to make those nominations by January 21, 2000. Participants will also be invited from Tinian and Rota.

Triathlon clinic
Scott Penny, Australian triathlon coach, will be on Saipan on Jan. 14-16, 2000 to conduct a clinic for all interested triathletes.
Taga Inc., the organizer of the Tagaman Triathlon scheduled for May 20, 2000, is bringing Mr. Penny to Saipan to conduct the clinic. Saipan’s Stuart Smith will also assist the clinic.
The clinic is scheduled for the evening of Jan. 14th, which will cover an overview of the course, diet and nutrition. This will be followed by sessions on each of the components of a triathlon, and programming and periodization from 9:00 a.m., to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15th. Another session will be held on Jan. 16th covering strength training and stretching.
