BOE sets voters’ registration for 2001 election

The Board of Elections announces that registration of eligible voters is continuing for the 2001 regular general election. Any person qualified to vote may register during normal business hours at the Office of the Board of Elections in Garapan, Saipan.

Eligible voters in Rota and Tinian my contact members of the Board of Elections for information on when staff of the Board of Elections will be conducting registration drive in their respective municipalities. Eligible voters who reside in one of the islands north of Saipan may contact the Mayor’s office for registration information.

A person is eligible to vote who, on November 3, 2001 is 18 years of age or older, is domiciled in the Commonwealth, has resided in the Commonwealth at least 45 days prior to the day of the election, is not serving a sentence for a felony, has not been declared by a court to be judicially insane, and is either a citizen or national of the United States as defined in the Northern Mariana Islands Constitution.

Any person qualified to vote in the 2001 regular general election may register before October 5, 2001.
