Once an electrician for the Mariana Islands Airport Authority, years of hard work have landed Airport Manager Regino M. Celis the number two post at the Commonwealth Ports Authority.

At a meeting last week of the CPA Board, Personnel Chair Fidel Manglona introduced a motion to promote Mr. Celis to the position of deputy director effective immediately. The measure was adopted unanimously.

CPA Executive Director Carlos H. Salas said he was pleased with he board’s decision and very comfortable with Celis as his second in command.

“Reno has been around CPA for a long time and knows more about this organization than almost anyone. His promotion is great for Reno, CPA and the traveling public,” Mr. Salas said.

In 1978, Mr. Celis began as an electrician with the building maintenance division of the Mariana Islands Airport Authority. In the years that followed he was transferred to the operations division, was promoted operations supervisor, and later airport manager. In addition to his new responsibilities as deputy director, Mr.
Celis will continue his role as airport manager until CPA finds a replacement.
