Reyes is SGA’s 1999 champion
Brian P. Reyes shot a total gross score of 149 during the two-day championship games sponsored by the Saipan Golfers Association to become the 1999 winner of SGA’s annual best of the best tournament.
In day one of the competition held last Saturday at the Coral Ocean Point, Reyes scored 75 followed by a total gross score of 74 on day two of the championship at LaoLao Bay Golf Resort East Course, to give him a total net of 137.
Second place was awarded to Tom Aldan, whose combined net score reached 146. Judge Edward Manibusan placed third, with a combined two-day net score of 148. Judge Manibusan and Joe Camacho have the lowest handicap at 2 among the association’s members.
Reyes took home a 19″ color TV, cash prize and a trophy.
Past SGA winners were Charles Reyes, 1996; John Babauta, 1997, and Joe Demapan, 1988.
SGA also had other contests during the two-day event. Closest to the pin at COP on hole no. 3, Judge Manibusan; hole no. 7, Norbert Sablan; hole no. 12, Joe Camacho; and hole no. 14, Ray Salas. Most accurate on the hole no. 9, Judge Manibusan, and hole no. 18, Norbert Sablan.
At Laolao Bay, closest to the pin contest at hole nos. 4 and 15, Brian Reyes; hole no. 6, Joseph Aldan; and hole no. 11, Ray Santos. Most accurate drive for Laolao Bay for 9 and 18 was awarded to Joe Camacho.
SGA president Ray Diaz said registration is now open for new members for the year 2000.
