House public hearing
The House Natural Resources Committee will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, December 7, 7:00 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Susupe on House Bill 11-500 which will designate Managaha Island and its surrounding waters as a marine conservation area.
The general public is invited to attend and to submit written testimony and/or to make oral testimony regarding the proposal. All written and oral testimonies received will be made part of the hearing record and will be considered in any decision made concerning the proposed bill.
Testimonies should be submitted to the office of Rep. Manuel A. Tenorio, committee chairman, prior to scheduled hearing date. For further details, contact 664-5075.
Bombing exercises at FDM
The Emergency Management office announced yesterday that the U.S. Military Unit 5th Bomb Wing Squadron will be conducting bombing exercises on the island of Farallon de Mendenilla.
The military exercises have been scheduled for today from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and Dec. 7 from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The general area of exercises will be at FDM Training Area (R-7201), from surface to 5,000 feet MSL on a 10-nautical mile radius.
Due to the danger posed by these exercises, the general public, especially tour operators, fishermen and commercial pilots, are advised to stay away from the area during the exercises.
