Arson attempt foiled

Police arrested Kris Hiroshy Walter, 32, for allegedly attempting to burn Jin Apparel Inc. in San Vicente on Nov. 6, 1999.

Investigation showed that at around 5:30 p.m. the company’s security guard smelled diesel in the place where the generator was located. When the guard inspected the area, he saw Walter running away, leaving behind some 50 gallons of diesel fuel.
Police arrested the suspect in Dandan barely an hour after the attempt was foiled.

Charges of disturbing the peace, attempting to commit arson and criminal trespassing have been filed against Walter.

Robbers strike at United Church

Robbers do not choose their victims. Even the United Church of Christ in Kanat Tabla was not spared. Robbers fled with an aircondition unit, a skill saw, a drill, electric extension cords and several tools.

Police said the robbery took place between 9:00 p.m. of Nov. 6, 1999 and 10:21 a.m. of Nov. 7, 1999.

In a related incident, the former Rudolpho’s Pizza establishment in Sadog Tasi was also burglarized, police said. Stolen were two IBM computers, two CPUs, one UPS, two keyboards, a registered printer, three window type aircondition units, several stainless steel pots, chairs and tables. Police said the items may have been missing between Oct. 28 and Nov. 7, 1999.

Rudolpho’s closed shop last July 1, 1999 after its land lease contract with the government was not renewed when it expired on May 1, 1998. The Division of Public Lands has refused to renew the restaurant’s lease contract because of Rudolpho’s failed to settle its tax obligation to the government amounting.
