Some 29 cadets and police officers will be deployed by the Department of Public Safety on Saturday to ensure a peaceful election on November 6, according to Clyde Norita, DPS assistant chief for special services.

Norita said while previous elections on the island had been generally peaceful, the agency’s Tactical Response Enforcement Team will be on standby for any untoward incident.

The police officers will escort the transfer of ballots from different polling places to the Multi-Purpose Building in Susupe, where the tabulation will be held. Police officers will be on duty from 7:00 a.m. until the tabulation is over.

The Board of Elections has warned against carrying of campaign banners, T-shirts or caps and distributing materials within 100 feet from the designated polling stations.

DPS is reminding the candidates that banners and distribution of campaign materials will only be allowed beyond the restricted area.
