SAIPAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ELECTION The race is on
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce, which has played a vital role in thwarting the federalization of labor and immigration, will hold its annual election next month.
Business leaders Efrain F. Camacho and Lynn A. Knight are both eyeing the Chamber presidency. Since the Chamber plays a vital role in the economic development of the CNMI, Saipan Tribune reporter Lindablue F. Romero asked the two candidates to share their views on crucial issues confronting the Northern Marianas.
Educated in Texas A & M University where he earned his B.S. Civil Engineering degree, Camacho worked in Houston, Texas as an engineer for a year. In 1988, after working in various firms on Guam and Saipan, Camacho established his own firm — Efrain F. Camacho, Engineers and Architects Corporation. He served as Chamber president for two terms in 1994 and 1995.
An active member of the Chamber, Knight is currently president of her own firm Sunset Advertising Group, Inc. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Psychology at the California State University. She has 19 years of experience in public relations, advertising and business management. Knight is also co-owner of Saipan Scratchies, agent of the CNMI Lottery.
