The Northern Marianas College announced yesterday that those interested in seeking the position of the college president has until tomorrow to turn in their applications.

“No application will be accepted after Friday,” said NMC information officer Ray Mafnas.

Mafnas said more than 20 applicants have submitted their applications.

“A majority of them are from off-island, and only three are from the CNMI,” Mafnas said.

He refused to identify the names of the aspirants for the position.

Mafnas said the NMC Board of Regents will form a committee that will screen the credentials and interview the applicants.

“The final decision will be made by the board,” Mafnas said.

The applicant who will be selected b the board will replace NMC president Agnes McPhetres who is retiring in December.

McPhetres, who has been the college president since 1981, announced her retirement plans earlier this year at the height of allegations by some members of the House of Representatives that she has been mismanaging Saipan’s community college, particularly its scholarship program. (MCM)
