An immigration investigator was terminated from his post at the Department of Labor and Immigration following his conviction for harassing a co-worker.

Vicente Pangelinan was charged with assault and battery based on a sexual harassment complaint by a female co-worker, according to Asst. Atty. General Marvin Williams.

Superior Court Associate Judge Timothy Bellas yesterday sentenced Pangelinan to 30 days in jail— all suspended except for five days.

In convicting Pangelinan, Bellas noted that the emotional injury caused by the defendant on his victim “is worse than any physical injuries.”

On top of his 30-day jail term, Pangelinan is also under one-year probation.

He was also required to give 150 hours of community service and a fine of $300.
