RGA August qualifier
The Refaluwasch Golf Association will hold its August qualifier on Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999 at the Coral Ocean Point Golf Resort. Tee time is 7:00 am and is open to the first 20 players on a first come basis.
RGA congratulates members Jess Wabol and Joe Lizama for winning the championship flight and the A flight categories, respectively, in the recent Tournament of Champions.
Michael Kim is student
athlete of the month
Michael Kim, a senior at Marianas High School, has been chosen student athlete of the month by the Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association.
Mike practices his favorite sport, golf, every opportunity he has, and has attended Golf clinics in the states to improve his game.
He recently won the Hawaii PGA Junior Golf Tournament in Kona, Hawaii against 62 golfers, who are all warming up for the Junior World Championships the following week.
During the Junior World Tournament in San Diego, where he competed with 246 other young golfers, he placed 85th overall with scores of 76-76-79 to improve his last year’s finish that put him on the 134th slot.
Red Cross swim lessons
Red Cross swimming lessons will be available through the Saipan Swim Club on Saturday mornings beginning Sept. 11, 1999 for five consecutive Saturday, from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. Classes are available for children (at least 6 years old) and adults.
