Enrollment ongoing for adult education
Registration for Adult Basic Education and Adult School Classes at Northern Marianas College is now underway and continues through Thursday, June 3.
“Students interested in preparing for the General Educational Development high school equivalency tests should take advantage of our free classes,” Director Fe Calixterio said.
Registration will be held at the ABE Office at NMC from 3 to 6 p.m. through Thursday. Classes are available in multiple levels of instruction and include English as a second language and introduction to computers. They are also offered at the NMC campus and sites in Chalan Kanoa and San Antonio through affiliation with Karidat and Islands of Beauty.
News students must take free placement tests. Books are available for a $10 refundable deposit. US citizens and CNMI immigration immediate relatives (IR) of US citizens pay no tuition for the first time they take the classes. Students who are not citizens of the US or the Freely Associated States must pay $40 tuition for each classes.
Health Inspection
The Bureau of Environmental Health Education conducted health and sanitation inspections in the following eating and drinking establishments from May 23 to May 29, 1999 and gave the following ratings:
Grade A: Tea House, Garapan; Coffee Shop (PIC), San Antonio; Employees Cafeteria (PIC), San Antonio; Buoy Bar (PIC) San Antonio; Pool Bar (PIC) San Antonio; Seaside Grill Restaurant (PIC) San Antonio; Magellan Restaurant (PIC) San Antonio; Bay View Restaurant (Lao-Lao Golf) Kagman III; Chinese Happiness Restaurant, Garapan; Misoya Noodle House, Garapan; Doko Employees Kitchen, San Antonio; Kristine Catering, As Matius; Neo Fashion Cafeteria, San Antonio; Duk Soo Restaurant, Garapan; Seoul One Restaurant, Garapan (Reopened on May 28, 1999 after it was closed for one day); Hong Kong Restaurant, Garapan.
Grade B: Shogun Restaurant, Garapan; Club X Night Club, Garapan (Reopened on May 28, 1999 after closed for a day).
Grade C: Moon Night Club, Chalan Kanoa; D’ Elegance Restaurant, Garapan; Kaizoku Restaurant II, Garapan and Beijing Karaoke Night Club, Garapan.
