A pick-up truck tried to avoid a 10-year old girl but was hit by the rear section of the vehicle during a late afternoon accident last Tuesday.

According to the police report, vehicle operator Dino Palacios was driving down the strip road leading to the American Memorial when he saw a group of students.

As he was approaching, one girl ran across the street. He swerved to the opposite side in trying to avoid hitting her. However, a telephone post was stationed on the opposite side and he had to maneuver the car back.

Thereafter, he heard an impact at the rear side of his car.

The girl fractured the right side of her leg and sustained laceration.
