Academic Challenge

The Public School System will kick off this year’s Academic Challenge Tournament with contestants from junior and high school levels going up against each other on Saturday.

It will be held at Hopwood Junior High School’s Cafeteria, while succeeding competitions will be held at Conference Room of the Joeten Kiyu Library.

The PSS has been hosting the Academic Challenge each year since 1988. This academic race is set for students in junior high school and senior high school levels.

It covers Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Arts, Music, Humanities, Computer, NMI History, Government and Current Events.

This year’s national competition will be held on June 12 to 15 at the Disney World Convention in Florida.

Soccer Fiesta

The CNMI Youth Soccer Organization will host the Soccer Fiesta ’99 this coming Saturday.

This event is expected to gather girls and boys, ages 8 to 13 at Hopwood Junior High School starting 10 in the morning.

Participants are advised to come in their soccer attire and are encouraged to bring their parents.
