“Months ago, this was a proposal. Today it becomes a reality,” said Carmen M. Indalecio, junior student of Marianas High School, as the CD-Rom Tower was unveiled at the Joeten Kiyu Library.

Indalecio, who worked at the library last summer, saw the need for this institution to join the information highway. She took part in articulating this dream to sell it for possible donors.

A reliable partner took the challenge and provided funding to match the federal money in expanding the library’s current technology resources.

Yesterday, Indalecio and Tan Holdings Corp. witnessed the realization of the dream.

In dedicating the Youth Passage to Learning at Joeten Kiyu Library, the dreamer and her partner shared their vision on education with the entire community.

Commissioner of Education Rita H. Inos expressed gratitude to Mr. Jerry Tan, who represented the company, for caring for the students and bringing the library to the new millennium.

“It opened the world of information to us,” said Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio of the project.

To help realize this dream, Tan Holdings initially produced $30,000 to start the project. It brought six state-of-the-art computers and installed the 28-CD Rom Tower. It came up with an additional $10,000 to match the federal funding in acquiring new softwares.

“Today reaffirms our commitment to the island of Saipan and the community,” said Tan Holdings Vice President Jerry Tan.

And yesterday was just the beginning of its continued investment on the local youth to ensure the commonwealth with a bright future.

“This is the best investment because they are our future,” Tan added.
