CDA names new executive director
Northern Marianas Housing Authority Corporation Director MaryLou S. Ada was recently chosen as executive director of the Commonwealth Development Authority.
CDA Board Chairman Juan S. Tenorio said Ada will serve NMHC and CDA in concurrent capacity.
Tenorio believes Ada’s track record in public service will carry her through the dual functions.
“She’s matured enough to handle both jobs. She has proven herself. And she’s very much qualified to run both houses,” he said.
A lawyer, Ada has been in the government service for 17 years.
She began as socio-economic planner at the Planning and Budget Office in 1980. From 1982 to 1985, she was a loan assistant and economic adviser for the Economic Development Loan Fund.
Ada was retained as CDA loan officer after the EDLF was dissolved and its functions transfered to CDA.
In 1993, Ada was promoted as manager for CDA’s loan and accounting division. In that same year, she was named manager for the development banking division of CDA.
Ada was appointed as corporate director for NMHC in March of 1995.
During her administration, the NMHC has expanded its housing and community development programs.
Ada holds a degree in political science from Oregon State University. She graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in May 1994.
