90 get vaccinated on Rota
ROTA—A total of 90 people on Rota got inoculated with the Moderna Inc. COVID-19 vaccine, raising their total to 353 people getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Muña confirmed in a phone interview that 90 more people got vaccinated on Rota.
According to Rota Mayor’s Office’s public information office Facebook page, online registration for Phase 1B for Feb. 20 is now open. This includes government employees, federal employees, autonomous employees, teachers, bank employees, airlines, seaport, and business establishments.
There are only 200 slots that are available and vaccination operations will be from 8am to 3pm. Additionally, Phase 1A second dose is scheduled for Feb. 21 from 8am to 1pm.
When asked about quarantine procedures on Rota, Rota Mayor’s Office public information officer Ivan Mereb stated that people going to Rota are first quarantined on Saipan, as part of the Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ directive. Once they are all clear, then travelers will continue with their travel to Rota.
“The directive would have them clear first in quarantine. …I believe they would be tested for COVID-19 at the quarantine site on Saipan until they are cleared from quarantine. [That’s when] they would be able to board a plane to Rota,” said Mereb.
It was also learned that there are no direct flights from Guam to Rota, except for cargo shipments.
COVID-19 in Guam
According to the Joint Information Center on Guam, the COVID-19 vaccination clinics continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines from Feb. 9 through Feb. 13 at the University of Guam Field House from 1pm to 7 pm.
“These clinics will prioritize those due for their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine. Pfizer/BioNTech’s first doses will be limited to 50 per hour for eligible individuals. No first doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered,” said JIC. Additionally, Guam residents are advised to schedule an appointment online via Eventbrite.
Due to a higher demand for second dose vaccines for Feb. 10, there is a separate Eventbrite link to schedule appointments. Additionally, those clinics will prioritize those due for their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine. Pfizer/BioNTech first doses will be limited to 50 per hour for eligible individuals. No first doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered.
JIC stated that those who are getting their vaccines should bring a digital or hard copy appointment confirmation and a photo ID. Those due for their second dose are reminded to bring their COVID-19 immunization card.
