PDM Promoters, Inc. Saipan collected about 820 lbs of trash in the tourist district of Garapan last April 21.
About 35 volunteers—including Awaodori Team members and Kinpachi Restaurant staff—took part in the monthly cleanup.

Unlike previous years when the non-profit group would hold its cleanup on a weekend, PDM Promoters held the April event on a Monday.

“We decided to do the cleanup with the kids this Monday since they don’t have school yet,” PDM Promoters coordinator Sonia Siwa said.

Trash was collected from the sides of the American Memorial Park and along the Paseo de Marianas.

In other news, 15 members of the Saipan Awaodori Team volunteered during the Saipan Marathon last Saturday, April 19.

“We set up a tent at the Garapan Fishing Base for the team members to cheer the [runners], together with one of our volunteer dressed as a Saipanda mascot,” Siwa said.

The Saipanda was a courtesy of the Marianas Visitors Authority.

Members were also given a certificate courtesy of Saipan Marathon organizers for helping out in the race. (Jayson Camacho)
