A total of eight teams in the over 21 and over 40 divisions have so far showed interest in joining the 2015 United Filipino Organization Basketball League, which is tentatively set to open next month.

League organizers are aiming to open the 2015 season on Feb. 22 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium. Assembly time is at 7am with the traditional parade of teams to follow once all competing squads are complete.

UFO president and league coordinator Bong Malasarte, after a recent meeting with UFO sports coordinators, said five teams have expressed interest in the over 21 division, while three have so far reserved spots in the 40-up class.

The other two divisions are U15 and and U20. Each team is allowed to field in 12 players.

The following are the entrance fees per division: $350 (U15), $400 (U20), $600 (over 21) and $550 (40-up). The fees are inclusive of electricity and usage of the gym.

The opening game will be between U15 teams with the 40-up squads following suit. The next match will be in the U20 division, while a 21-up contest will close out the day’s hostilities.

Interested coaches can still sign up their respective teams and form the best 12-member squad to complete their respective rosters.
