8 classes in MRA Point Race Season

The Marianas Racing Association Point Race Season that will kick off this Sunday will feature competition in eight classes.

MRA vice president Cuki Alvarez said that the seven-leg series will have riders racing in the Peewee (1 and 2) Class, Minis (1 and 2), Mini ATV (4 wheelers), Power Puff (all girls), Veterans (40 and over), Novice, Expert, and Big Boy ATV.

Each class will have two heats (morning and afternoon races) for this Sunday’s kickoff at the Marianas Motocross Park. The first race will start at 10am and it will be for young riders (Peewee), while the afternoon heats will begin at 2pm with the season opener expected to conclude by 4pm.

MRA will hold a general membership meeting tomorrow at 6:30pm at Minatchom Atdao pavilion to discuss details of the season, including the rules and schedule of the races. All current MRA members are required to attend the meeting, while interested individuals are welcome too and can apply for membership.

As for the races, riders must sign up and pay the $5 registration fee (per class).

MRA will be holding the point race season to determine the winner of the Top 3 plates in each class. Points will be at stake in each series and the top performing riders will be awarded with the No. 1, 2, and 3 plates.

After this weekend’s kick-off race, MRA will have the second leg on Feb. 28, third on March 28, fourth on April 25 and the fifth and sixth on May 30 and June 27, respectively. The last race of the season is scheduled for July 25.
