Members of the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force arrested on Wednesday four persons, all Chinese nationals, who are allegedly involved in selling methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

As this developed, sources said the task force also arrested yesterday three other men—all locals—for “ice” trafficking and possession. The three are expected to be taken to Superior Court for bail hearings today, Friday.

Arrested in separate operations on Wednesday were Zhi Peng Huang, 36, also known as Dandan or Boss; Ming Ming Zhang, 26, also known as Young Boy; Xiu Hui Wang, 36, also known as Sister; and a certain Mei Mei. All four were charged with trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Their bail was set at $100,000 cash each.

Huang was arrested in As Lito, Zhang in San Jose, and Wang in Garapan. The report did not indicate the location of Mei’s arrest. Her full name was also not specified in court papers.

Mei and Wang are both female; the rest are males.

Assistant attorney general Barbara Cepeda appeared for the government. Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for the suspects.

Drug Enforcement Task Force police detective Andrew S. Taimanao stated in his report that a cooperating source purchased $150 worth of “ice” from Huang at his apartment on April 2 and $200 worth of “ice” last April 6 in the parking lot of Han Nam Supermarket in Koblerville.

Police detective Jeffrey Norita stated in his report that a cooperating defendant managed to buy $100 worth of “ice” from Zhang in the parking lot of a gas station in Sadog Tasi last April 7 and $200 more worth of “ice” at Zhang’s residence in As Matuis.

Police detective Liza S. Udui stated in her report that their cooperating source managed to buy $180 worth of “ice” from Wang at the source’s residence on Capital Hill last April 15 and $180 worth of “ice” the following day.

Office of the Attorney General investigator George F. David stated in his report that their cooperating source managed to buy $70 worth of “ice” from Mei outside New Top Store in Kannat Tabla last March 11 and $200 worth of “ice” at the same location last March 17.
