The 69th Liberation Day will kick off on June 27 and will run through July 6 at the Garapan Fishing Base in front of Kristo Rai on Beach Road.

According to Liberation Day committee chair Vicente Camacho said this year’s theme is going to be a “Reunion of Honor: Tribute to the Mayors” since the islands just lost former mayors Prudencio Manglona and Donald Glenn P. Flores.

“We are still going to have a parade and that parade is also going to be dedicated to the mayors,” Camacho told Saipan Tribune. “We might have to put the families of the late mayors on convertibles to highlight all of them.”

According to Camacho, the parade’s submission deadline for participants, which also includes the float competition and regular floats, is this June 30.

“The parade route is going to be from south to north around the Quartermaster area maybe, but we are still looking at it,” Camacho said.

Camacho noted that they may allow alcohol to be served at the Liberation Day festivities.

“The plan is to bring in and allow alcohol and there will be a section to control the alcohol and have nightly entertainment as well,” Camacho said.

The Liberation Day Committee still looking for entertainers, performers, participants, food vendors, and those who plan to join this year’s 69th celebration of Liberation Day.

“We are asking for vendors and it is still open. The public is encouraged to call and participate in the float competition, the parade, and entertainment,” Camacho said.
