670 Sonics to join PH tournament

The 670 Sonics Basketball Club is set to leave for the Philippines next month to compete in the 3rd Dreamers International Basketball Challenge that wil be held in Lucban in Quezon province.

The BSA Pinoy Youth Dreamers Basketball Club is organizing the tournament and has extended its invitation to the 670 Sonics for the second time.

The 670 Sonics players and officials have been busy raising funds for their trip as they are reaching out to various businesses on island for donations.

The Tan Siu Lin Foundation is one of the groups/companies that stepped forward to help the basketball group, donating $1,000 worth of shirts for the 670 Sonics’ participation in the PH tournament.

The 670 Sonics first competed in the Philippines in 2016, as they played in the 670 Sonics-Laguna Philippines Friendship Basketball Tournament. They challenged three collegiate teams and one high school squad and advanced to the finals against San Pablo College. The visiting team settled for the runner-up honors after losing to San Pablo College, 95-90.

Sonics founder Jesse Tudela was the team’s head coach and head of delegation and was joined on the team by coach Omar Ajoste and several club officers, including president Francis Mendiola. Jack Aranda, Jaymark De Guzman, Emerson Feria, Erick Dela Rosa, Gerald Flores, Sean Rabasto, Mike Espinosa, Jun Fidelino, Mike Arciaga, Prince Factor, and Djaymarch Ong were the members of the runner-up team.
