629 receive scholarship from SHEFA

As of Feb. 27, a total of 629 college students have received a total of $665,500 from the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance.

So far, a total of 1,344 students—556 freshmen, 320 sophomores, 228 juniors, 102 seniors, 110 masters, and 28 advance/doctorate/juris doctorate—applied for the grant for this spring semester at either the Northern Marianas College, online college, and off-island college.

Of the total, 242 are new applicants,1,026 are ongoing, 76 are returning, 837 are on-island, 388 are off-island, and 119 are enrolled online.

As for the Northern Marianas Technical Institute, there are 93 applicants who have applied for the grant but are still pending. A total of 82 students are new, five are ongoing, and six are returning.
