6-year-old girl drowns, 16-year-old boy missing in Forbidden Island tragedy

A 6-year-old girl drowned while a 16-year-old boy is still missing during the Forbidden Island tragedy on Friday, the Department of Public Safety disclosed this afternoon, Saturday.

At a press briefing, DPS Commissioner James Deleon Guerrero said a doctor pronounced dead Hadassah Murphy, who along with her father and four other persons encountered rough water and waves inside the cave area.

Deleon Guerrero said as of this afternoon, Saturday, search efforts continue for Timothy Wesley Jr., who jumped into the water to attempt to rescue Murphy and her 8-year-old sister, Heaven Murphy. Heaven Murphy survived and suffered only abrasions on the knee.
