5th Annual Docomo Pacific Golf Classic set for Aug. 30
The Marianas Tourism Education Council will be the beneficiary as Docomo Pacific will once again host the Docomo Pacific Golf Classic this coming Labor Day weekend. The tournament date is set for Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the scenic Lao Lao Bay Golf & Resort with a tee time set at 7am.

“With our tourism industry headed in a positive direction, we must continue to reinforce the importance of our tourism industry to all, but most especially the generations that follow. It is vital that businesses, both large and small, support MTEC in its mission of developing tourism-related programs for our high school students,” said James Nelson, Docomo Pacific’s general manager.
This is the 5th year Docomo Pacific will host the tournament and the responses received from the business community have been great with more support from many of the island businesses on the way. Major sponsors First Hawaiian Bank, DFS Saipan Ltd. and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation have all stepped forward with their support again this year.
Calvo’s Select Care has joined the Marianas Visitors Authority, Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan, MarPac, Pacific Islands Club, PTC, Hyatt Regency Saipan, and Marianas Management Corp. as Classic sponsors.
Hole-in-one sponsors Bank of Hawaii, Joeten Motors, Pacifica Insurance, and Triple J Motors have also lent their support with fantastic prizes of cash and cars. Dickerson & Quinn, Kautz Glass, Aqua Resort Club and Island Training Solutions are Classic contributors once again with more companies expected to contribute in the coming days. Media sponsors Sorenson Media Group, Marianas Variety, and Saipan Tribune will get the word out again this year.
“We must continue to do all we can to support non-profit organizations that have a direct impact on tourism and our student community,” added Nelson.
This year’s entry fee remains the same as always at $85 and includes cart and green fees, morning snacks, free flowing on-course refreshments, and awards banquet. And in classic tradition, participants can look forward to the morning snack station and hotdog and watermelon stands out on the course.
Entry forms are available at the Docomo Pacific store on Middle Road in Gualo Rai. Entry fees are accepted at Docomo Pacific. Golfers are encouraged to enter as soon as possible. The deadline for entries is 5pm, Aug. 27. For more information, contact Nelson at (670)483-4924 or email jnelson@docomopacific.com. (Docomo)
