5K Literacy Fun Run/Walk to finally push through

The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in cooperation with Run Saipan will finally hold the 5K Literacy Fun Run/Walk originally set last December this coming April 23.

The fun run/walk, which is free and open to the entire community, starts at 6am at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library in Susupe with the turnaround at Quartermaster Road.

Run Saipan president Edward Dela Cruz is excited that their non-profit group’s partnership with the JKPL is finally pushing through and Run Saipan can support the library, especially with National Library Week set this April.

“I also urge not just our running community but our entire community to donate funds to The Friends of the Library at the JKPL 5K. Please join us in support of them,” he said.

Free T-shirts will be distributed on the day of the event for the first 75 registered participants. Sizes are limited on a first-come, first-registered basis. Photo/video release and liability forms must be completed during event-day registration. Bottled water will be provided for participants and temperature checks spare and hand sanitizer stations will be available.

Community sponsors and donors are encouraged to donate to the JKPL to help fund its programs and services. The JKPL is also accepting educational tax credit donations, in-kind support, and sponsorship for the 30th anniversary programs and services. The public library welcomes and encourages businesses and private donors to consider donating cash contributions. Pursuant to NMI Public Law 15-120, JKPL is able to receive cash contributions under ETC; make checks payable to: CNMI Treasury.
