The Superior Court has imposed a $5,000 cash bail each on two men who are accused of breaking into The Shack restaurant and stealing an iPhone and gift certificates.

Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph Camacho imposed Monday a $5,000 cash bail each on Manuel A. Ada, 26, and Charley Joenel Enriquez, 18, who are facing charges of burglary, theft, and conspiracy for allegedly breaking and entering into The Shack in Oleai on Feb. 13, and stealing an iPhone and some gift certificates.

Both men were remanded back to the Department of Corrections and were ordered to return to court on Feb. 23 at 10am for a preliminary hearing, and their arraignments were set for March 7 at 9am.

According to court documents, police had responded at around 4:38am on Feb. 13 to a burglary and theft incident at The Shack in Oleai.

The Shack supervisor told police that he received notification from the surveillance camera inside the establishment that someone was in the restaurant. The supervisor said they had not been keeping cash in the restaurant since their last break-in, but an iPhone was missing.

Police at the scene saw one of the restaurant’s windows shattered with glass on the patio and the ground. An officer also observed blood stains on the floor and on the window frame that had a large piece of glass still attached. The officer also observed two rocks on the ground.

Meanwhile, other police officers on patrol pulled over a vehicle last seen in the area. The passengers of the vehicle were Ada and Enriquez.

A patrol officer told the driver that The Shack had been broken into a few minutes ago and the driver’s vehicle was the only one seen leaving the area of the crime scene. An officer asked whether any of them had any injuries.

The driver then told Ada and Enriquez to tell the truth and to get out of the vehicle.

When the two passengers got out of the vehicle, an officer saw that Enriquez’s hands were bleeding and that he was trying to conceal it.

The driver told the police that he had no knowledge of what the two did. He said he was stopped by Ada and Enriquez, and they asked him to give them a ride to Chalan Kanoa.

While the officers were questioning Ada and Enriquez, The Shack’s supervisor called the iPhone that was missing. One of the officers then heard a phone ringing from Ada’s pocket.

In a freely given statement to the police, Enriquez admitted breaking into The Shack by throwing a rock into the window. He said he entered the restaurant and started to search in a drawer that was next to a computer. He didn’t find any cash but found five envelopes and an iPhone. Enriquez then met with Ada at the store across The Shack.

The two then walked to the San Jose Mobil gas station where they met with Ada’s uncle who was going to give them a ride to Chalan Kanoa.
