500 Sails sets Boat Nights schedule

500 Sails has announced its Boat Night schedule for February 2019. It is opening its doors to volunteers who want to help build canoes from modern materials using traditional designs.

Boat Nights take place at the 500 Sails’ boatyard in lower base, next to the Department of Lands and Natural Resources. The program’s goal is to get canoes into the daily lives of the community and can result in ownership of one’s own canoe.

Boat Nights will be ongoing on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm throughout February and March. Also, new this month is an additional Boat Night on Saturdays from 1pm to 5pm.

Teens are allowed with accompanying and participating adult guardian. Participation is free.
