More than 50 public and private school students attended this year’s High School Workshop hosted annually by the Saipan Chamber of Commerce that was held at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe last Saturday.
The workshop was developed by the Education Committee of the SCC as an annual event to educate high school seniors on the paths that lie ahead for them when they graduate high school.
Guest speakers for the event were Vicky Benavente of Pacific Islands Club, Jim Arenovski of Island Training Solutions, and Shamika Ratwatte of Ernst & Young.
Benavente opened the workshop on the topic “Balancing Work and Family” where she shared valuable tips to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
Arenovski discussed the interviewing process through a dynamic and interactive presentation, which offered insight into the do’s and don’ts during an interview.
Ratwatte’s lighthearted presentation about “Personal Budgeting” made the topic easily understandable and fun.
Certificates of completion were presented to the students by Chamber president Velma Palacios along with the speakers.
SCC thanked their donors Herman’s Bakery, Subway/Foremost, and LSG Sky Chefs for the food they provided to keep their attendees happy and focused.
“The generosity of these companies is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Education Committee co-chair, Mrs. Vickie Izuka for your attendance and part in making this a great success,” SCC said.
