50 Rotary Hachioji South members to arrive
The Rotary Club of Saipan will be hosting a 50-member delegation from sister club Tokyo Hachioji South this weekend. The large group is expected to arrive at 2pm Saturday and will be spending three days as part of the club’s cultural exchange program.
Rotary Saipan president Curtis Dancoe and other members will be welcoming the group at around 3pm at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.
“They are here to share with our cultural exchange program and for fellowship between two Rotary clubs,” said Dancoe during their meeting last Tuesday at the Giovanni’s restaurant at he Hyatt Regency Saipan.
The Rotary Club of Saipan will also be hosting a complimentary barbecue dinner for the Japanese delegation starting at 6pm at the beach side of the Hyatt.
Dancoe said the Rotary Saipan’s Japanese counterpart would also discuss on how to assist them with more projects in the future. “They plan to do more projects with us.”
Rotary’s Tokyo Hachioji South club has also donated more than $2,500 in the CNMI’s Typhoon Soudelor recovery fund.
Early this year, the Rotary Club of Saipan and Tokyo Hachioji South had a cultural Youth Exchange Program involving two high school students.
Cousins Andrea Camacho and Coleen Triana Duenas, the Interact Club presidents of Kagman and Marianas high schools, respectively, represented the local club from Jan. 18 to 24.
It was Tokyo Hachioji South’s turn last month with high school students Shiori Koiki and Riko Yamamura visiting Saipan where they met with Interact Club members and learned about the local culture.
