5 teams lock second round slots

Five teams have already secured tickets to the next round of the 2011 Rocball Fall League after last week’s games at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
Leading the list are pacesetters Aim Low and Roc It, who are tied for the lead with their similar 8-1 records. Only six of the 12 teams will be playing in the second round of the fall league. Also getting slots to the next phase of the contest are The Teacher, which is in solo second place with its 7-2 record, and Alpha Q and Give-a-Hoot, who are in a deadlock for the third spot with identical 6-3 marks.
Just-do-It, which owns a 5-4 card, could follow the five early qualifiers if it wins at least one of its two remaining games. Just-do-It’s last two assignments are against IDK and Alpha Q.
The Geeks with its 4-5 card could still make the first cut, provided it sweeps its last two games and Just-do-It drops its two remaining matches. Five other teams are already eliminated: Lay Low, Balls of Fury, Dream Team, G-Sparks, and IDK. Law Low is at the No. 8 slot with its 3-6 slate, while Balls of Fury, Dream Team, and G-Sparks have similar 1-7 records. IDK is winless in nine games.
Qualifiers in the second round will play in another round-robin contest, but the format after the second round has yet to be determined. Also in the second round, league organizer James Feger will get the consensus of the qualified teams whether to allow or not the recruitment of players from eliminated squads.
Meanwhile, Give-a-Hoot’s Damart Teregeyo now leads the league in scoring with his 51 points. In nine games, Teregeyo collected nine aces, eight kees, three xunks, three goals, and two jams. Teregeyo dislodged the Geeks’ Jonathan Ignacio at the No. 1 spot, as the latter had only 49 markers after last week’s matches. Inacio tallied 20 aces, two goals, one xunk, one jam, and one kee.
