Five companies have jumped into the sponsors bandwagon for the Commonwealth Cancer Association’s signature fundraising event of the year. DFS Saipan, Ltd. and GPPC Inc. have signed up as title sponsors, while Docomo Pacific and Saipan Computer Services/Ideal Signs are major sponsors for the 2014 Marianas March Against Cancer. DFS Saipan and GPPC Inc. both donated $3,000 to the MMAC. DFS Saipan president Marian Aldan Pierce said that DFS is proud to have been a title sponsor for the MMAC since its inception. “We are not immune from the terrible impact cancer has had on people and their families. Over the years, we have lost valued members of our team or family members to various types of cancers,” Pierce said. “Our community is blessed with this hardworking organization to do what we can to hopefully eradicate this disease in our lifetime.” The 2014 MMAC organizing committee is happy and grateful for the sponsorship that DFS has contributed to the fight against cancer. “The 2014 MMAC committee extends its heartfelt gratitude to DFS Saipan, Ltd. for their continuous support of the MMAC,” 2014 MMAC overall committee chair Manny Borja said. “We congratulate them on becoming our newest title sponsor; the most prestigious level of sponsorship available. They’ve been a strong supporter in the fight against cancer for over a decade and we thank them for that,” he added. Saipan Computer Services/Ideal Signs, Docomo Pacific, and First Hawaiian Bank are major sponsors for this years 2014 MMAC—all donating $1,000. Docomo Pacific general manager James Nelson said that there are a myriad of fundraising events throughout the year but the MMAC “is one that touches us in one way or another because most of us know someone who has left us because of this deadly disease.” “Some are fortunate to survive and we are even more fortunate to still have them among us. We all must do whatever we can to help find a cure for cancer,” Nelson said. “The battle against cancer is a tremendous undertaking, and not one person or small group can hope to take it on alone. We’re here today to take a step forward as one community with one journey,” Borja said. This year’s MMAC title sponsors are Bank of Guam, Delta Air Lines, DFS Saipan, Ltd., GPPC, Island Apparel, IT&E, Joeten Daidai Foundation, Marianas Variety, Sorensen Media Group, and Take Care/FHP.
