460 and counting for Saipan Marathon
Over 460 runners have registered to join the 10th Saipan Marathon on April 25, 2015.
The Marianas Visitors Authority says they are expecting the number to increase leading up to the registration deadline this Friday, April 10, at 5pm.
“We’re pleased to see about 300 runners coming from Japan, only, for the event, as well as runners from China, Korea, and other countries,” said MVA Marketing manager Martin Duenas. “So far we have over 100 participants from the Northern Marianas, as well. Whether for fun or fierce competition, we invite all local runners to join our visitors in this very popular annual signature event.”
The 10th Saipan Marathon will feature marathon, half-marathon, 10K, and 50K courses.
Registration for the 50K and marathon is $65 for U.S. and NMI participants, and $55 for half-marathon and 10K participants. Registration will include the awards banquet, a finishers T-shirt, and a certificate of completion.
The start will take place at the American Memorial Park at 4am for the 50K and the Marathon, at 5am for the half-marathon, and at 5:45am for the 10K. The cut-off time for the 50K and marathon will be 8:30am at the halfway point in front of Bridge Capital in Garapan.
All competitors are required to pick up their race packets on April 24, 2015, at American Memorial Park, without exception.
