4 Saipan villages to experience water interruption

Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers in the villages of Garapan, China Town, Puerto Rico, and Navy Hill will experience a temporary water service interruption resulting from a pump failure due portions of the cement wall collapse into the basin of the Maui 4 Shaft Well.

The extent of the collapse was assessed yesterday by the CUC water operators and engineering, however, they were unable to make the repairs to the pump and motor. Extensive repairs are needed on the existing cements walls that are 220 feet deep.

CUC water operators and engineers are working together to route water from other neighboring tanks in order to assist the affected areas. Water hours will be limited.
