Four members of the Junior and Senior Troupes of the International Thespian Society CNMI who attended the 2018 International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska last month were deluged with callbacks after a stellar showing at the festival.

The four are Su Min Woo of Grace Christian Academy, and Marianas High School students Ruoxiang Lu, Clarisse Torio, and Kelvin Wolf. The four were part of the CNMI team that performed in three competitive days that gathered young thespians in the United States and other parts of the world.

Woo, who earned a Superior medal and two excellent ratings, had 20 callbacks, while Lu had 21 in technical theatre after receiving one Superior medal and two excellent ratings through scenic design. Torrio had 11 and Wolf 13.

Torrio, Wolf, and Woo earned their callbacks as performers with the former part of MHS’ Rhythm ‘N Harmony that went home with two Superior medals, two perfect scores, and one excellent rating.

Wolf performed with Chloe Salvosa in duet acting where the duo received a Superior medal and two excellent ratings while Woo had a Superior medal and two excellent ratings in Monologue.

Western Pacific Region-National Forensic League president Harold Easton said the event also gave the students a chance to avail of academic opportunities.

“One of the goals of any trip is to take advantage of educational and social opportunities. The members of the team attended daily workshops to hone their theatrical and presentation skills,” said Easton. “They attended performances in various university theatres, most notably the 2,500-seat theatre, and met and socialized with students from around the nation and around the world.”

He added that Team CNMI also had the chance to experience university life. “Since festival attendees are housed and fed in the university dorms and all the events are held in university facilities.”
