4 Guam jr. players sign up for Tan Holdings tourney

Four Guam junior players have registered for the 7th Annual Tan Holdings Tennis Classic that will kick off next week at the various hotel courts on Saipan.

According to tournament coordinator Lydia Tan, Guam’s Alyssa Merletti and her brother Roman will be competing in the girls U14 and boys U12 divisions, respectively and will be joined in Week 1 of the annual event by Joyselyn Tenai (girls U14) and Tori Smith (girls U16).

The opening week of the Tan Holdings Tennis Classic will be played from Nov. 27 to 29 at the tennis courts of Fiesta Resort & Spa (main headquarters), Kanoa Resort, Hyatt Regency Saipan, and Pacific Islands Club. Week 1 is for junior players only and will feature both singles and doubles games and girls and boys U10 and co-ed U8 matches.

So far, 16 players from Saipan have signed up and Tan said they expect more to enter the competition today—the deadline for registration. Entry fees are $20 for singles and $15 per person in the doubles.

The same registrations fees will be collected in the final week of the event which will run from Dec. 4 to 6 and will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles games in the men’s and women’s 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, and over 40 divisions. Deadline for registration for Week 2 is on Nov. 27.

Entry forms are available at the TSL Foundation office on the second floor of JP Centre Building in Beach Road Garapan, the Tan Holdings office at TSL Plaza, also in Beach Road, and at Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan through tennis pro Luke Beling.
