4.6-magnitude quake on Rota no threat to Marianas

The 4.6-magnitude earthquake felt on Rota last Sunday night poses no threat to neighboring Saipan and Tinian.

According to information from the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, a 4.6-magnitude temblor shook the island of Rota last Sunday evening at around 7:20pm.

The information stated that there was no threat of a tsunami following the earthquake.

The earthquake was seen located at 14.117°N 145.364°E with a depth of 110.9 km.

This was the first reported earthquake in the Marianas of 2019.
