35th Saipan Int’l Fishing Tournament on July 20-21
The Saipan Fishermen’s Association will hold the 35th Annual Saipan International Fishing Tournament on July 20-21, 2019.
Organizers are anticipating about 20 boats from outside The Marianas to join the event, including at least 15 boats and crews from Guam.
Prizes will be awarded for first- to third-place in each of five game fish categories are: billfish, yellowfin, wahoo, mahi mahi, and skipjack. Prizes will also be awarded for total weight and a grand prize. SFA will award special prizes to the first participant weigh in a marlin over the record 942 1bs. or a mahi mahi weighing over 102 lbs.
The tournament registration cost is $150 per boat, inclusive of a captain and one crew member. Each additional angler is $35.
Pre-registration will be held at Smiling Cove Marina on July 19 from 4:30pm to 6pm, where SFA will provide a tournament briefing. The tournament will begin at 6am and end at 6pm each day.
The SFA will host an awards ceremony on July 22 at 6pm at The Magellan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan. Non-tournament participants may attend for $35 per adult and $17.50 per ages 4-11.
The SFA will produce a souvenir tournament program booklet, to be provided to all participating captains and crew members. Tournament entry forms, rules, and schedule of events are now available under the Events Calendar at www.mymarianas.com, at the Marianas Visitors Authority office on Beach Road in San Jose, and at Fishing Tackle on Beach Road, Susupe, Saipan.
