New PH passports now being released

The Philippine Consulate General in Guam, in coordination with the Office of Honorary Consul Eli Arago, is now releasing passports to those who renewed their passports last Dec. 2, 3, and 4, 2019. Pick up the new passports at the Finasisu Terraces Building D, second floor, (top of the Mini-Mart Store), Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (12-1pm breaktime). Bring your old passport and receipt. If someone else will pick up your passport, the applicant should provide an authorization letter. For more information, call Mel Santos at 233-6293. (PR)

Kagman schools set PTSA meeting

This is to inform all parents, guardians, and the community that the Kagman Unified Schools, on the island of Saipan, will be having a PTSA meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at 5:30pm in the Kagman High School cafeteria. We are encouraging all parents, and guardians to attend this meeting. Child care will be provided. Call the any of the three schools at 237.3150 (KAGE), 237.3165 (COVMS), or 237.3196 (KHS) if you have any questions or concerns. (PR)

Water service interruption today

There will be a scheduled water service interruption today, Feb. 5, 2020, from 8am to 4pm, on Capital Hill 1200 Block, 1300 Block, Wireless Ridge, Eggi Drive, Marshall Loop and for Commonwealth Utilities Corp. customers along Capital Hill Isa Drive to the the Kagman Mobil gas station. This will allow CUC’s water operations personnel to repair five service line leaks on Marshall Loop. For more information, contact the CUC Customer Call Center at 664-4282. (PR)

Our Lady of Lourdes novena

The Santa Lourdes Community in AsTeo has announced that the novena in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes will begin on Feb. 7 and will end on Feb. 15. From Feb. 7 to Feb. 14, the rosary and novena will start at 5pm at the Santa Lourdes Shrine in AsTeo. On Saturday, Feb. 15, the day of the fiesta, the rosary will be said at pm, followed by the novena, and the Mass will be held at 3pm at the Shrine. Procession will follow after the Mass. (PR)

Saturday writing workshops

The Marianas Writers Movement will have a series of Saturday workshops. Each workshop will be two hours, beginning at 1:30pm in the VTC Room of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library. The workshops, “Beyond the First Draft,” will focus on the editing process. These workshops are open to all over age 13, and are free.

Each workshop is different in content. Here is the tentative schedule for topics:

– Feb. 8 Workshop 4: Line editing thoughts
– Feb. 15 Workshop 5: Pitching your novel
– Feb. 22 Workshop 6: Resources/Hands-on/Feedback/Q&A (PR)

SHRM membership meeting set

The Society for Human Resource Management-NMI Chapter will have a general membership meeting and webinar training on Feb. 7, Friday, at the Charley’s Cabaret of the Pacific Islands Club Saipan. The meeting starts at 9am with the induction of the 2020 NMI SHRM board members.

The webinar trainer will be Fran Sepler, president of Sepler & Associates, who is known for her pioneering work in harassment prevention and workplace investigations.
Training topics:

– 9:30am – 12:30pm: “Respect in the Workplace.”
– 1:30pm – 5:30pm: “Leading for Respect.”
