Deadline to register for SCC-ITS workshop today

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce and Jim Arenovski of Island Training Solutions will be hosting a training on time management at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce conference room (Marianas Business Plaza, third floor, Suite 315) on June 26, from 9am to 12pm. The deadline to register is today, June 21. Registration fee is $50 per person for Chamber members and $55 per person for non-members. Light refreshments are included. Raffle prizes donated by Pacifica Insurance will be raffled throughout the training. Reservations and advance payment are required as seating is limited. Ortizo is on University of Delaware’s dean’s list

NEWARK, Delaware—Michael Roy Ortizo of Saipan has been named to the University of Delaware’s dean’s list for the spring 2019 semester.

To meet eligibility requirements for the dean’s list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester. (PR)

JRM to participate in Exercise Citadel Pacific

ASAN, Guam—Joint Region Marianas, U.S. Naval Base Guam and Andersen Air Force Base will participate in Exercise Citadel Pacific 2019 on June 24-28. 

This annual exercise is designed to enhance the training, readiness and capability of Navy security forces to respond to threats to Navy installations and units. CP-19 is not in response to any specific threat but is a regularly scheduled exercise.  

Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around bases or delays in base access. Area residents may also see increased security activity associated with the exercise. 

As part of the exercise, the Giant Voice systems on both installations will be activated, and residents in surrounding areas of the GV speakers will hear exercise announcements regarding force protection conditions throughout the week. The use of the GV system adds realism to the exercise. (PR)

Weightlifting contest on July 27

The 2019 CNMI Weightlifting Championship will be held on July 27, a Saturday, at the Minachom Attao pavilion in Susupe, starting at 10am. Registration deadline is noon of June 25, 2019, with the registration documents to be delivered to Greg Borja or Jeanne Rayphand at the Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc. office in Gualo Rai.
