3 teams earn close wins in girls U15 league

Three teams labored for victories in the girls U15 division of the 2015 NMIFA Youth Spring League last Saturday at the Hopwood Junior High School Field.

At the Hopwood Pitch 2, Shirley’s Football Club eked out a 3-2 win over Paire FC. Diana Maniacop delivered the victory for Shirley’s, as she knocked in a pair of goals in the second half, which started with the opposing teams in a deadlock. Katrina Costales handed Shirley’s a goal in the first 45 minutes of play, while Guinevere Borja tallied one each in the first and second half for Paire.

With the triumph, Shirley’s improved its win-draw-loss record to 7-2-0, tying Matansa’s mark, but the latter won the tiebreak for first place as it has the most goals in nine games 29-26.

Matansa played on the other pitch and notched a 3-1 win against Kanoa FC. Angelica Sally registered the twin goals for Matansa in the second half, while Bernadette Horey put their team on the board in the first frame. Christine Noble scored the lone goal for Kanoa, which remained at the bottom of the team standings with its 1-1-7 record.

Tan Holdings is in the middle of the seven-team field with its 3-1-5 slate. It earned its third win this season after slipping past fifth-running MP United (2-0-7), 2-1. Chloe Salvosa recorded the go-ahead goal in the 84th minute, while Britanny Wally hit the other one for the winning squad. MP United drew its only goal in the match from Maaya Sato.

BOYS U15
Tan Holdings-1 11, Kanoa 0

Tan Holdings-1 also emerged victorious in the boys U15 game last Friday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field after crushing Kanoa.

Anthony Fruit, John Michael Rojas, Jonathan Capayas, and Jonah Pohn knocked in two goals apiece for Tan Holdings-1, while Rico Reyes, Thaiphi Austria, and Jherico Tiamzon added one each.

Tan Holdings zoomed to a 6-0 lead and kept going in the second half to remain on top of the team standings with its flawless 9-0-0 record, while Kanoa is in fifth place with it 0-2-6 slate.

Paire 5, Tan Holdings-2 0
In the other boys U15 match last Friday, Paire shut down Tan Holdings-2.

Dai Podziewski lifted Paire to the east win, scoring a hat-trick. Logan Mister and Raffi Lee contributed one goal apiece for Paire, which is ranked third in the team standings with its 4-0-4 record. Tan Holdings-2 is at the cellar, holding a 0-1-8 mark.

MP United 10,
Matansa 1
In last Saturday’s game at the Oleai pitch, MP United cruised past Matansa.

Oliver Lee starred in MP United’s lopsided victory, firing four goals. Joshua Abragan chipped in two, while Euin Jin Byen, Go Sekiguchi, Clayton Izuka, and Edwin Kim made one each.

MP United is still in second place in the six-team field with its 8-0-1 record, while Matansa occupies the No. 4 spot with its 3-1-5 slate. Joshua De Leon scored the lone goal for Matansa last weekend.

BOYS U18
MP United 6, Paire 0

MP United also bagged an easy win in its boys U18 match against Paire last Saturday at the Hopwood pitch.

Keeanu Diaz and Chan Woo Jeong registered two goals each for MP United, while Kyle Chung and Hyun Jun Chung posted one apiece. MP United holds a 5-0-1 record for second place behind the unbeaten Tan Holdings (7-0-0), while Paire owns a dismal 0-0-6 mark.

Tan Holdings 10, Matansa 0
Tan Holdings gained its seventh win after pounding Matansa at the Oleai pitch.

Se Young Kim towed Tan Holdings to victory after collecting four goals. Louie Calayag contributed two, while Sean Perez, Joel Fruit, Reniel Relucio, and Kautong Omengkar produced one goal apiece for the division leader.

CO-ED U12
MP United 4, Paire 2

MP United fortified its hold on the top spot in the co-ed U12 division after downing Paire last Saturday at the Hopwood pitch.

Dylan Cho and Rintaro Miyawaki scored two goals apiece for MP United, which now has a 6-1-0 record, four wins ahead of the second-running Kanoa (2-4-1). Paire fell to a 2-1-4 slate for fourth place in the five-team field.

Tan Holdings 4, Matansa 1
Tan Holdings won the other co-ed U12 match last weekend after outclassing Matansa.

Taka Borja made a hat-trick for Tan Holdings, which owns a third-best 3-1-4 record. Jancee Famularcano hit the other goal for Tan Holdings, while Justin Achas tallied the lone goal for Matansa, which is at the bottom of the field with its 1-1-5 mark.
