Officers Joseph DLGuerrero of Saipan, Joseph Camacho Jr. of Rota, and Buddy Sean S. Igitol represented the Commonwealth at the training, which took place from Dec. 5 to 16, under the auspices of DARE New Jersey, Inc.

A total of over 30 attendees from different eastern states were present, some of whom have never heard of Saipan or Rota or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

During their training, they formed different teams, separating the three CNMI officers so that they would get to know their other colleagues. Each team selects a team leader and, at the end, is awarded the Team Leader Award Medal. One medal went to Igitol, a son of Ivan and Marie Salas Igitol.

All throughout their graduation ceremony, the three were cheered for having come the longest distance and having to endure the time difference.

The DARE program seeks to boost efforts to prevent drug use among teens. The CNMI congratulates these three DARE graduates as they go out and practice what they’ve acquired during their training.
