A man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing a storeowner’s credit card, among other items, and using it to buy gas and groceries. Two other men were arrested for stealing cans of milk and selling them to another store.

Thomas Daniel Riner, 33, was arrested for theft, misuse of credit card, and issuance of bad checks.

Joshua Blas Santos, 29, and John Raymond SN. Muna, 27, were arrested for theft and conspiracy to commit theft.

Riner, Santos, and Muna were taken before Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio for bail hearings on Friday afternoon.

In Riner’s case, a police officer was dispatched to U Save Super Market II in Susupe last April 8, in response to a report of theft.

The officer met with the store’s owner, who claimed that her LG G Vista cell phone worth $270 was stolen, along with her driver’s license and Bank of Guam credit card.

The victim told police that her credit card was swiped at Kagman Market and Mobil gas station in Sadog Tasi for a total of $261.07.

Police investigation showed that a man carrying an infant with diapers asked the cashier at U Save Super Market II to use the store’s phone. The man, who has a tattoo on the left arm, was later identified via surveillance camera as Riner.

The storeowner was about to leave the establishment when she noticed that her cellphone, which she had put on the shelf at the cashier counter, was no longer there. The victim reviewed the surveillance camera, leading to the identification and arrest of Riner.

The victim went to Bank of Guam in Chalan Piao and learned that her credit card was swiped twice at a Mobil gas station in Sadog Tasi and at New Kagman Market last April 8.

During the police’s interview with Riner last April 11, he allegedly confessed to stealing the victim’s cellphone and using her credit card to buy gas, cigarettes, and groceries.

Riner also told police where he threw the phone, along Isa Drive on Capital Hill.

In March 2015, police arrested Riner in San Vicente for allegedly stealing a 1997 Honda Civic sedan.

In September 2012, Riner was also arrested for his alleged involvement in a series of burglaries in Kagman.

In the case against Muna and Santos, a police officer was dispatched to San Jose Mart in Oleai last April 14 where a theft was reported.

Police said a man showed a check from Best Sunshine Corp. and asked if he could take a case of Similac Milk to the parking lot to show it to his wife if it was the right kind.

The man, later identified as Muna through the surveillance camera, did not return.

Police said a review of the surveillance camera’s footage showed, on that same day, Muna and Santos stole six cans of Similac Milk from San Jose Mart.

During their police interview last April 28, Muna and Santos admitted stealing a total of 12 cans of Simillac Milk and selling them at Chang Ming Store in Garapan for $60. The 12 cans of milk were worth a total of $275.

Police said Santos is under probation for a previous criminal conviction. He has other pending theft case.
