3 die of COVID-19 in Guam
Guam reported three more COVID-19 deaths yesterday, bringing to 13 the total number of people in Guam who fell victim to the virus that causes COVID-19.
According to the latest advisory from the Joint Information Center in Guam, the first fatality occurred at approximately 12:04am, when a 73-year-old female with underlying health issues passed away. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Memorial Hospital.
At approximately 8:30am, the second patient, a 36-year-old female, passed away at GMH. She is the island’s second youngest COVID-related fatality.
Both patients were not known COVID-19 cases. It was only when they were brought to GMH that they were then swabbed, and the results came back positive.
At approximately 9am, a third patient, a 74-year-old male, passed away at Naval Hospital Guam.
“To the people of Guam, we have had too many days filled with grief and too many lives lost. Thirteen people have succumbed to this virus. Contrary to what some have said, not all of them were elderly—two of them were in their 30s, with their lives ahead of them,” said Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero. “I ask the island to keep their family and friends in your thoughts and prayers, to not only mourn their passing but to also remember them for the lives they lived.”
The three recent deaths will be counted in Guam’s overall COVID-19 case count, bringing Guam’s total to 13 COVID-19-related fatalities. (PR)
