2nd Diocesan Youth Camp strengthens parish faith, camaraderie
The Diocese of Chalan Kanoa hosted its second annual Youth Camp over the Thanksgiving weekend at the Mount Carmel School campus.
The camp, coordinated by parish officials, brought together youth from all parishes on Saipan for an overnight stay at the private school.

“I am glad that they have this and I am happy to be a part of it,” Balajadia said. “I hope for it to continue in the years to come.”
The deacon said it was inspiring to see how many youth attended the camp with the thirst to know Jesus more and learn more about the testimony of the Gospel.
One attendee, Miller Bundoc, said he attended the camp for another year to bond with his parish sisters and brothers.
“In the short two days we spent together, I bonded with people I do not normally talk with. This camp have definitely changed my perspective on a lot of things,” the Mount Carmel student told Saipan Tribune. “This strengthens my faith and belief in the Gospel. I hope that more people come each year.”
It was San Vicente altar server Maria Dizon’s first time to camp out with fellow youth parishioners. She said the youth often feel that they are far from God’s word.
“Coming here gives all of us the opportunity to come and bond together no matter what parish they are from,” she said.
Baby Kano, a long-time parishioner, said she makes time to chaperone the youth campers each year to see them interact religiously. “This is really all about the youth. They learn more about their faith and worship together.”
